About

Hi, I’m Alison, a resident of Austin, TX, since 2014. Over the years I’ve followed so many lifestyle bloggers from ATX to get the latest, greatest info on new restaurants or experiences here in town. But every time I watched one of their reels or read one of their posts, it felt like I wasn’t being reflected in the blog itself.

And I don’t mean that there aren’t white girl bloggers out there, but I don’t really see chunky, chronic illness, neurospicy, filled-with-anxiety bloggers talking about the vibes from that perspective. Every time I would go out, I needed to run it through my rubric of “how many spoons will this take” and “will I be overstimulated?” But I was having to make that judgement call every time and then would result, overwhelmingly, in not doing much at all.

And I have friends who have it worse off than me – full on panic attacks if in crowds, yet still wanting to get out and experience novel things in life. My friends have long coveted my spreadsheet of recommendations of things in town, and I am constantly searching for something new, so the idea suddenly came onto me in 2023 –

What if I made posts catered to the folks who could use some more information to judge if something was accessible to them with their conditions? And so Comfort ATX was born, with comfort meters to help you choose if something is worth your time and energy.

My hope is to get a wide, diverse cast of contributors and build a crowd-sourced ratings app one day, but until then, this will be a passion project that I work on. I’m so glad you’re here, and I hope my guide can get you comfortable in the city you call home.
